Hi All, Thought you may enjoy some photos of the ongoing restoration project I have been busy doing on this old 1957 Seacraft model "Perri" outboard.
As you will see its had a totally new floor including stringers and chines etc from bow to transom as the old one was rotted out. Its now about to get the original bridge deck reinstalled as that was chopped out tom make way for the horrible bucket seats you can see. The bridge deck will allow me to refit a bench seat as it should be.
Next will be a full rebuild at the original tube trailer and the digging up of a suitable era outboard to suit hull. Something around 1959 short shaft is ideal - Any ideas??
Also does anyone know how the original bridge deck should look and the front seat design? Cheers, Scott Botterill

Re: Seacraft 1957 Outboard
Looking great mate. What size outboard are you looking for.
Re: Seacraft 1957 Outboard
Hey thanks Dave, Jeff Tull tells me that the biggest outboard you could get from local dealers in 1957/58 was 35h.p. I love the old Mercury outboards myself if only cause they look extra cool. I'd love to fit a Mercury 58 model, i think it was a mark 75 red cowl with white trunk, think i'm dreaming to find one, may have to settle for a little later model early 60's black and chrome 50 or 60h.p. What about you sell me that tower of power white girl you got earlier this year...even if it might sink the little seacraft, it'll look the part.

Re: Seacraft 1957 Outboard
Scott I have a 40hp shark and 57 green 30hp merc. Both turn over but I have never had them running. You can have the shark for $300 or the merc for $650. I also have a 75hp v4 johnson of that era but I think its too heavy for it. The big six mercs are going on boats I have. My bell boy banshee and haydon hydrodyne. Dave 0413766501

Lil glamour! I was tempted to buy it last time it was up or sale, when you get it ready bring it to one of the club days, it would be interesting to see it on the water
Re: Seacraft 1957 Outboard
Hey, It's still a way off hitting the water yet, but I'm sure going to give it plenty of water time if all goes well, I wasn't too sure the SSBOC crew would welcome a pint sized outboard ??
But I would love to take it along to one of their days.
Cheers

It would be great to see it on the water I'm sure everyone would be interest to see it as it's one one of Charlie's first boats, keep an eye on the club site for the upcoming events
Re: Seacraft 1957 Outboard
Hey Shifty... Thanks for the encouragement, it would be interesting to find out if in fact it is one of Charlie Tull's first boats, it would also be an honour for me as well. I've suspected for a while now that it may well be a few years older than 1957 that i have in the documentation i so far hold on it. I'll keep you & readers posted.

There's some pics of them on Jeff's website, is there anything written on the ribs under the deck?
