New deck on the Simpkins just need to fit some racks on the car so I can get some timber for the rails . I had to fit new engine bearers and floor ,never want to do that again .
Red Dog my small Simpkins got home from Narrandera with no mudguard on the trailer .

Re: Keeping Busy
Just happy to help mate, thought you were getting bored with all that timber work.
Re: Keeping Busy
Nice work. Yet another one we'll on the way to completion. You put me to shame.
You have to love blow outs and the damage they do. I've been lucky to have had only two in my life time so far. The old EK took the two hits well. I have to say the 60 year old very perished spare didn't miss a beat and I finished the trip with it. Says something about the quality of rubber these days.

Re: Keeping Busy
Nice work Ken.
Re the damage, it was all OK when it left here (just saying).
As for tyres, after a couple of blowouts with Stormy, the trailer now sports 8 ply tyres (good second hand pair when I bought them).

Well done Ken, its a cracker, looking forward to seeing this back on the water
Re: Keeping Busy
I have been washing the dust and sawdust out today so here are some progress pics .It has been a big project with new bearers and floor but I think it was worth it .

Re: Keeping Busy
You're a machine Ken. Is it another Gill build? Looks very similar to BP. I'm looking forward to seeing this one. Nice work.
Re: Keeping Busy
Love your work Ken. The glass hull with timber deck combo is a great look.
Re: Keeping Busy
I happy with it Bob it was lucky to survive ,I had dropped the seats off to be done then when i ripped the carpet up i discovered alloy plates bolted doth sides of the bearers and no timber left inbetween .If i hadn't commited to the seats i would have sold off all the parts . It is a Simpkin but it looks very close to B.PEE so someone was coppying someone but the raise in the deck makes it a much better for old people to get behind the wheel .I have fitted sliders on the driver seat so you can move back and not hit your legs on the dash .
