Job well done Dave. You will certainly have an eye catcher when it's finished. Any idea what the hull might weigh? It won't be easy launching it at the Narrandera ramp either.

Hi mate. I dont know how heavy it is but it seems surprisingly light. The whole thing is planked in 3/8 cedar. Its built more like a canoe than a speedboat.
It shouldnt be that bad to launch. That other big boat seemed to get away with it there no problems.

Got all the deck removed today. It looks like Ill be able to reuse it all. Just going to replace all the stringers, Then clean the planking up and put it back on.

It really is looking all gutted out now.

I got the Transom back on ALFRA today. Ive got this massive blister inside my hand from screwing all the screws in (not some other solo activity ). Anyway Its coming along.
Tomorrow after work I might clean the inner planking at the bow a bit as its easy to get to with all the deck off.

This arvo we started cleaning the old paint off the inner planking. revealed under the paint is the name of the owner and his address. Maybe the builder marked the boat to identify where it was going.
I love it when you find stuff like this. Im going to varnish this section so its there to be seen. The rest of the inner planking will be painted in bilge paint.

Dave,
Alan Price got me into wearing those flexible type work gloves.
At first I was cynical, but I use them all the time on the boats and around the farm.
It has saved me so many blisters and cuts etc
(although screwing, palm blisters, and gloves is getting weird but I am serious)

I finally finished the nailing and roving today. I also replaced every bronze screw. Total 5kg of nails and $600 in screws. I also got the topsides faired and put the first coat of clear on. It looks awesome. Next job is painting the bilge and the replacing the deck. After that roll it over and do the.bottom. All before october.
