Hey Ross, you don’t want any fuse between starter and battery, those starters are drawing more than 60A cranking. For sure put your fuse between the alternator and battery but upgrade your fuse to 75 amps as fuses lose capacity when they get hot. Slowing alternator speed drops the current rating of your alternator, the voltage is controlled by the regulator. You possibly now have a 30 amp alternator on your hands, it might be just enough but only time will tell

Thats Andy
Fuse is like you said between the altanater and starter and now just put a 60 amp fuse in for now .
Haven't started it since Narrandera yet.
Have borrowed a lager prop from Craig to try out put it a US morse .
So l have pulled the shaft out and replaced it with one that came out of the boat about 5 years ago. But before I fitted it l changed it to the US morse to suit the prop .
A bit of fresh varnish on the cav plate and some paint on the steering swivel that was going rusty and now just needs to be reassembled to go for a test run .
Ratbag is all so waiting for a test run with a down draft webber and fabricated manifold made by Ken .
Weather and theses few weeks up to Xmas Re very busy.

You've been busy Ross for sure. I cant wait to see how the prop goes. It's been good progress so far with handling improvements on Invader.

As the last test run revealed a missfire un- like a loose wire on ruff water.
Some investigation in the electrical system found no problems but when lifting the distributor cap found arcing on the rotor button then found the centre carbon button not moving. After talking to Craig l made a probe to try and dislodge the carbon contact from the cap .
Found the sprig had rusted and jammed the button. When removed ,the spring was virtually gone with two rings left on the button and one ring in the base of the cap. After removing the last of the spring and cleaning up, a new spring was wound on to the button and wound in to the cap . All looks good for the next run .
