What a great weekend , once again Pagan had older men hanging around life flies at a picnic . I had i chap who helped Keith Simpkins build the mould off a timber clinker to start building the glass hulls , the amount of boat racing history out there is amazing . Put this event on your to do list for next year as we need more boats .

Geelong Revival
Re: Geelong Revival
Hi Bob, the plans are by a Naval architect by the name of David D Beach. The boat is designed to run in the 48ci class
Re: Geelong Revival
Yep, know of the fellow, he designed a couple of different size hydro's. There is another Beach design which is a bigger 16' 6" version which was raced during the 50's and 60's called Diablo. I am not sure whether it was the same hull but a 16' 6" Beach was also raced under the name Jag at one stage.
The Beach designs are a drop sponson design like the Lauterbach.

I do believe that Maryanne in South Aus is also a beach, the same as Diablo and Jag.

Plan drawing shown appear to be Paul Sawyers "ALTER EGO" from 1951/2. The plans were published in Speed and Spray in the USA after Sawyer took the boat to Italy to help advance their Hydro designs at that time. Check plans section on Vintage Hydroplane Site. Many details there.
