This gives a great answer to those who were questioning when vee drives were available - obviously available in the eary 1920's and whp knpws before that

Man that guy is dreaming. I was told it went to America a couple of years back. He has been trawling for $100000 for years now. He has offered it to everyone all over the world. Obviously its going up in price like Electricity and Petrol so maybe it has been a great investment (for him anyway).
Anyway Nautilus had a Vee drive in it. It won the 1914/15 Griffith Cup. Also a guy here has a little racer from that era with a really proffessionally made vee drive in it. Its all cast etc. If I didnt know any better Id say it was a production piece.

Thanks for that info on Nautilis Dave = I have seen that boat but at the time there was no information about it so I had no idea of its age - it was just sitting under a lean-to adjacent to Polly Woodside about 21 years ago

Re: Hydroplane Speed Boat
I'm not wanting to be killjoy here by any means but there is a good chance that if this boat has been here as long as he states and has the racing history is as listed there is every chance that it would need an export liscence before it can be sold and moved overseas.
I know of a couple of Historic race cars with a well documented history that were unable to be sold and sent over seas because they were deemed to be significant vehicles that had to be kept in Australia because of their history. They were refused an export liscence to be sent to the new owners
Cheers
Peter
