Like me Bob, it needs a lot of further work to come up to standard. Unlike me, the housing wont be a waste of time.......
Re: Thunda Babe
Just for Bob Carter I cleaned up the Flywheel housing. I was thinking about getting it vapour blasted but it's not going in one of those Chris Craft Limousines.
Re: Thunda Babe
Yesterdays progress on working a drive set up for the gearbox. I only have about an 1 /12" between the flywheel face and the inner face of the flywheel housing so it will have to be very compact. This area will also be taken up by a spigot mounting plate for the gearbox. The drive plate I'm thinking of using is an old solid clutch plate from back in the day.
Re: Thunda Babe
That flywheel housings is much better.... now aren't you glad that you listened to me? LOL The compact drive is a challenge but you seem to have it nailed. Good job.
Re: Thunda Babe
Is it hard work machining, and feeding the boiler to keep up steam?
Re: Thunda Babe
Haha... if anyone can do it, it's the Mayor of Stratford.
Re: Thunda Babe
Todays efforts.......
Engine has to go forward 40mm. I think I'll be ok with it as with it turned around the heaviest part of the engine will be rearward of the block i.e. flywheel, starter, distributor, oil pump, etc. I now wont have an issue with the distributor filling with oil as it'll be running of a right angle drive.
