Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Give us a yell when you're ready for the roll over so we can give you a hand.
Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Sure will. I'm thinking about how we're going to do it.
Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
I've got a chain block and some very long synthetic slings. I used the slings (new 1 ton) and a pole to do the seacraft. I have some tyres as well.
Brenda will let you use some mattresses out of the house surely?

Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Thanks for the offer Craig - I'll be taking you up on that. I've got two chain block & tackle units plus a bunch of slings and some trailer rollers to rig up a rolling system. I've only got one gantry so will have to rig up a second one or maybe hire one. I'm planning on building an upside down dolly or jig inside the hull so that when it rolls over it will lands on its feet. Er..... leave it to you to put in the mattress requisition with Brenda.

Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Attached the bottom half of the transom today. Glued with epoxy and screwed. There is quite a bit of tension on the mahogany timber so I'm inclined to leave it clamped for two days before releasing the clamps. Not sure how long it is taking for the epoxy to cure in the cold weather, so better to be safe than have a failure. As the photo showed I decided to rebate in the batten and am now glad that I did this.

Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Going well there Bob. Better inside the shed today than outside. Sometimes wonder if I'd be better off with a sail boat.........................ah no.
Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Sailboat? You need more skiff time my friend. Painted the bilge a couple of days ago... horrible job. Could do with a second coat, so might break out the spray gun. Anything but crawling around with my nose a few inches from those f***ing fumes. Glad to be back on the tools and sniffing epoxy again!
Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Today I thought that I would get the top transom board glued and screwed in place. But after chopping wood, setting the fire, shopping at Aldi and hanging out the washing, I fell short of my goal. Oh well six days of lockdown #4 to go.... tomorrow.
