Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Getting there with the trailer. The whole steel frame has been hit with the angle grinder with flapper disc to get rid of rust and crud and its now primed. Started on the brake lines but found that the fittings supplied were wrong. Bugger! Good excuse to park it until next week. I'm going to do the side running boards (to mount the clearance lights), lights, mud flaps and brakes then go for rego.

Not a dog clutch. That's a gearbox.

Nice progress Bob
Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Have not posted for a while as I've been working on the trailer to get it registered and back to my store. Trailers are so under-whelming! And enthusiasm sucking. Anyway, it's good enough now for registration (fingers crossed) - just have to clip the wires and fix down the running boards. Ultimately, the plan is to paint the trailer in the same colour as the hull below the bootstripe, which will be a vibrant red. The bearers also need to be rejigged to get the boat lower and flatter on the trailer. Once registered, all that can wait for for quite awhile.... next it will be back to the deck on Nirvana but after a little break.

Indeed Mr Chivs. We have an excellent arrangement. I own the welder and he provides the skill & labour.

Finally.... trailer registered and back into storage. It went 320 kgs on the weighbridge. All that Vic Roads checked was the length and width of the trailer and that all the lights were worrking, which of course they did. Now back onto some timber work on the deck. Did I say that I'm slow?

When you say "slow" you mean meticulous
Re: Nirvana 1941 Chris Craft
Nice job Bob. Love the rolled guards and timber running boards.

I recently saw an ad on FB for a placed in Melbourne selling Douglas Fir, so went there today. This is the real deal Douglas Fir from Canada. It is used in the bearers in Nirvana and I need to replace the wedge which sits on top of the bearers, which accepts and angles the engine at 12 degrees. Anyway, this place has a heap of Douglas Fir, it's all they do. I picked up a length which is kiln dried, perfect for the job.
