Ronda

Postby rayza1 » 23 Jun 2020, 18:49

Finally decided to give Ronda a birthday present, a new engine pipe and a good sand back in preparation for some new clear coat. The old clear coat was the hardest finish I have ever seen. 80 grit sanding disks and a palm sander and it still took 2 days to get rid of the old stuff!!

John Mathews used a 2 Pack Clear on all the Lewis Hulls he Sold (best Mate was the spay painter ). As Ronda was purchased via his Business that may account for the hardness of the Clear-coat.

These are the latest pics of Ronda, only the engine hatch to do now. 13 coats in total with a rub back every three coats

You know Ray, some yellow pinstriping would really set that deck off

Looking fantastic Ray.
Are you going to tighten some Rove's before you get it wet and slow some leaks down Ray. ?

Hey Ross, i did some roves before Narranderra last year and that helped a lot. The biggest leaks are around the transom now so i will concentrate on that and see how that goes, i'm happy to put up with a bit of water but not the amount it was letting in. It's my next job as it turns out

I had a go at making a set of automatic bungs today, Ronda has a mechanical linkage set up to operate the carbies so i ran an extension from the swivel which sits beneath the carbs to under the rear seat which in turn is attached to a set of leavers that pull the bungs in and out. So when i open the throttle it in turn opens the bungs. I had to fit a bigger return spring for the throttle but on the whole it seems to work really well. Has anyone else done this or am i some kind of pioneer? Will post some pics when i can
