That just has to be an original prototype Lewis Transom , a One Off Collectors dream.

More likely the Transom was done by a "Customizing Shop "for that special Boat Show ?
Driven from Flywheel end of crank which is a little unusual for a Ford using direct drive.

Drive is off harmonic end of motor , y-block distributor end , flywheel.
Transom , 2x upper clinker planks left & right of cav. could be cover up of earlier exhaust holes of damage timber.

Photo appears to show distributor at the rear of engine which made me think that to be a Ford it had to drive from the flywheel end of crank shaft. Some T-Bird engines of 312 ci had the distributor at the rear .Picture seems to show 3 Rocker Cover hold down bolts, most Y-blocks only had 2 bolts .
There were FE engines of 352 ci but distributors are in the front of all FE engines.
Sorry but engine model and size remains unknown to me.

All Y-Block Fords 272 292 312 are flywheel end distributor. 3x rocker bolts ??? are chrome star fender badges. 2x rocker bolts which have large Sq. head nuts. Drive end is quite clear with water hoses from manifolds to " water pump cover " FRONT OF MOTOR " Most Fords are Front Dist. drive , NOT Y-BLOCKS !

Original Motors : 272 heads have large welsh plugs located at each end. 292 heads have no welsh plugs. 312 motors most have 4 barrel manifolds.
Casting numbers are the next step. Y- Blocks were used in f-100 f-500 trucks as well . There are alot of motors around with incorrect heads and manifolds.
