Great addition , helps one understand how much individual development took place during Ernies racing life. Words alone cannot demonstrate his great achievements.

The bottom pic looks like Cabarita.
Went to Ernie's house one day, he didn't live far away. He and Gordon Turvey were cutting aluminium conrod blanks out on a bandsaw, the first step toward new rods for the Ferrari or Maserati.

Speaking of history - while not strictly a wooden boat
Ken Warbys Spirit of Australia will be on display tomorrow at The Toronto Royal Motor Yacht club NSW
This boat set world water speed record in1978 @ 317 mph a record which still stands after 39 years!!
I will check it.out tomorrow and post pics
Ken was at the club last night and apparently both he and his wife still race boats

Re: A bit of history
Hi Will,
The boat that Warby set the record with is hanging from the ceiling at the Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour. The boat that I guess you saw today is the new boat that he wants to up his own record with, this time with his son David driving or should it be piloting. Saw something on Facebook recently (so it must be true ???) that he had recently announced his retirement from boat racing, He has two Oz boats in the US, Chaparral is one and I can't remember the name of the other one, so maybe he's recently backed out of circuit racing these boats.

Re: A bit of history
Yes Bob you are correct .
I was lead to believe it was THE BOAT but when I saw it today realised it was the new Spirit 11
Sorry about that
