Don't think so Dave, further back would mean more angle and this motor has a huge sump. Hopefully all will be revealed when more photos become available

Great pics from the earlier days, the Runabout "PLAN" was a 266 Class and competed from early to mid 60,s . That picture shown was very likely taken between 1962 and 1965 .

Hi All, another update on Pagan. I spoke with Kerry Webster yesterday, he's the son of Earl Webster, Pagan's owner. He told me Pagan was bought as a used hull and that his Dad wasn't the original owner. Pagan was fitted with a Holden six by Earl in the late 50's (Kerry thinks a red motor but the time suggests a grey) and that it was raced around Victoria, especially Ballarat and Yarrawonga area's with some success. Some time while Earl owned the boat he and another chap who also owned a race boat were working on them in a shed in the Ballarat area when an explosion caused by welding a fuel tank killed his friend instantly.........does this ring any bells with anyone in the racing fraternity? It would be interesting to know who actually built the hull and whether it was Pagan before Earl bought it. I will keep in touch with Ian and Kerry and hopefully we can meet up one day, in the mean time the search continues. Below are a few more photo's

Had an update on Pagan over the weekend, it seems when Earl Webster purchased the boat it was called Lightning. Does anyone have pics or remember any of the boats of that name? I have seen pics of Lightning 3 and it's a clinker so it's not that one! Any help greatly appreciated.

Hey Dave, if that's not pagan its certainly its twin!! Was that taken at Goolwa? If it was, do you know when? The timeline may not fit, we are talking late 50's when Lightning become Pagan. Don't have dates just family memories.

I saw the name and thought it looked very similar to the photo you posted on the previous page.
