Postby 1949huey » 27 Dec 2014, 19:18

Hi, I have a lewis which is missing the bow cover strip (dont know what it is called) it is the piece that runs along the front of the deck to the bow.
unless someone has one for sale , would it be possible for someone to post a drawing with some measurements so I can get one made.
thanks..stuart.

I made one out of alloy sheet then went to foundry and had it cast in bronze. You can borrow my pattern to get it cast but it probably won't fit your boat.

Because all Lewis boats were built to order all the bow caps were made on each boat. A flat gunmetal casting was used cut bent brazed and chromed Ron.

I just used a piece of two mm alloy. I hammered the front around to exactly the shape of the bow. I put a bit of crown in it and then built it up a little with bog. I made sure it fit the hull perfectly before I had it cast.
