Hi Guys
I have just looked at the NSW Maritime site and put together a list of stuff which we could be required to carry or have installed in the boat.
1/ Anchor and chain (not planning to stop and fish)
2/ Bailer bucket (I don't believe that the boat will sink with 600 ltrs of polystyrene in it)
3/ Fire bucket (see item four)
4/ Fire extinguisher ( if the boat catches fire with 600 liters of polystyrene in it a fire extinguisher will not help)
5/ Paddle (have you ever tried to paddle a hydro)
6/ Safety label (already on the boat, shows 1 person)
7/ Whistle (I think most people will be watching and see me stop, if I do stop and need help)
8/ Waterproof torch (not planning to run after dark)
9/ Bilge pump (see item 2)
Greg I am happy to comply with any reasonable, practical request which the club may make in regard to this issue. Let me know what you want.
The above comments above are made with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek.

Yes Bob, I do realise where you are coming from.
We set up to cover the majority, which are runabouts. Even the skiffs have a bit of trouble carrying some of this gear. The same arguments are raised at Goolwa.
But, "Thems the Rules", and NSW Maritime have been known to drop in on us.

Re: Narrandera 2014
I carry a bag that has all the gear needed , it zips up and can be placed in the skiff on out side of the bearer beside the motor and shaft coupling. it doesn't move around its a esky bag so its padded. And one paddle just in case.
I have two of these bags that I can remove from the boat and store it after use in the boot of the car.
Its a good place to keep your licence too.

Re: Narrandera 2014
after a considerable amount of rooting around this morning I finally located a very helpful fellow at the south Australian marine safety dept. he has supplied me with a dozen safety stickers . whilst it is not a requirement to display such in s.a., I have sufficient for you local lads to keep the inspector general happy should he rear his ugly head.
see you Friday.
see you Friday.
Re: Narrandera 2014
If anyone is desperate,I could bring the dash out of Classique, as the sticker is still attached (about the only thing left lol) !!!!!!

Message from Chivs:
Bring the dash Andy, hookster and I have enough wood to make the rest, could be an interesting project at narrandera with a few cans! And the brains trust chipping in of course, see ya Friday.

Greg
I now know and have clarified something today that I didn't know yesterday.
The requirement regarding the safety equipment is not to do with the exclusive use aquatic permit, but the purpose of the permit.
In the case of the APBA and IPBC which are recognized in NSW as authorized power boat racing entities, they are able to apply for an exclusive use aquatic license for the purpose of racing. In the case of a racing aquatic license/permit the organizing body sets and polices the safety standards for its race days, as such these organisations have traditionally supplied course rescue boats with fire extinguishers, divers, tow facilities (for dead boats) and paramedics. These safety standards and the management of the race day, obviate the need to carry the standard safety equipment listed in my previous post.
Aquatic permits for other purposes still require the participant boats to carry appropriate safety equipment.
I have begun acquiring the equipment and will today be seeing where it fits, although I still have some doubts about the anchor concept.
