Invader
Re: Invader
It wil run chev and h&h z drive . have s/s extractor's for it but unsure if the will fit.
Re: Invader
Not much done today, but have coated one side of the angle iron brackets that bolt the cross bearers in, and repaired the delamination that was happening on the cav plate brackets. [ made of three pieces of ply ] they will need refinishing before fitting with varnish . Have opted reuse them instead of making new adjustable ones to keep the boat original as possible the same goes for the ply on the transom and all the fittings . I will have s/steel plates cut to cover the exhaust outlets that were added later that way there will be no extra holes .
Re: Invader
Have started back on the boat refitting the bearers into the hull , the s/s steel sheet under the cav plate will be cut and fitted to-day as it clamps under the skeg and the skeg and shaft log needs to be fitted before the bearers are bolted in through the keel.
Re: Invader
shaft log fitted, bearers assembled and bolted down, skeg has new bush fitted and bolted up.
Cav plate knees ready to be bolted up , stainless sheet bolted and roved around the cav plate.
Steering will be next to be fitted.

Re: Invader
Z drive fitted . Flywheel flange has been altered from ford to the wider chev bolt pattern . Next will be the fitting of a 307 that l have laying around to set up the engine mounts
New rudder has to have some machining done to fit the square hole in the original quadrant with a thread on top to hold it on the shaft.
Every thing else on the transom is completed .
Fuel tanks that l had made need to be fitted now before they get damaged in the shed.

Re: Invader
Motor sitting in the boat now and have bought some aluminium angle 10mm thick to make the bearer mounts as the adjustable one don't work with the taller engine bearers . Will have a go tomorrow to slice some off and drill them and may be get them fitted.
I all so have to mount the heat exchanger as well so may be Ill look at that too while i'm at it .
Headers look like they will work well, but r/h side will need to be lent out away from the motor a little to match the other side and that will be not to bad a job to do.

Re: Invader
engine now mounted with a 10 mm thick front engine plate spaced out 20mm from the block to clear the mechanical fuel pump .
rear has a marine bell housing, all sitting on 70x70 ally angle brackets bolted to the bearers. stock chevy sump clears the hull as does the bell housing . When I am up to it in 3 or 4 weeks I will mount the heat exchanger . Hope I can have it ready for summer.
Getting a bit board sitting around not being abele to do anything , it is real toucher and nothing on TV during the day .

Just relax a bit and take it easy Ross. Don't bust anything!
Re: Invader
looks awesome Ross keep at it, (without breaking yourself) so you can drive it at summer time.
I am hoping to have mine finished by summer, just not sure which year the summer will be.
