Anyone recognise the name?

It reads " Built By F. Finocchiaro 11/1963 Seacraft"

Well it looks like you could go either way with the grey or red although it would be highly unlikely seacraft would have had access to brand new red motors in late 63. Having said that just because the hull was made in 63 doesnt mean it was fitted out then.

That's a good point Dave, I didn't think of that. I'm still swaying towards it not being originally fitted with a red. I have found one rib directly below the sump as been rounded to so it would clear a sump for another engine as it has no bearing/need to be that way for the red. The gland bush has been moved forward as well.

I've also date checked the Bosch regulator that was still in place but not used and it is correct for 62/63 although there's nothing to say the red motor regulator was replaced at some stage for a repaired/rebuilt old one.
I would love to find someone that is really up on the history of Seacraft that I could talk to about these boats. I haven't found much info online or in books. Its a real pity that there doesn't seem much of this history has been preserved over the years as opposed to what you could dig up on sailing boats. I'm in definite admiration of those that have rebuild these boats over the years with little to nothing to go off.
Cheers.

Craig

Have you looked at: http://seacraftskiboats.com/

It's pictorial, but a good guide.

G'day Greg, yep, I've troweled through that site for hours. There's some good shots in there but I'm more after build data on the boats over the years i.e. some plans, specifications and models, etc.
I did however find some good trailer plan drawings on that sight that match up to my trailer and some tech drawings for thrust bearing units,
Thanks.

Yeh Ross, that's the sump that it has now. Looks as though the rib was rounded off to clear a different engine. The grey is a but shorter than the red so I'm thinking it was to clear the sump at the curve from the first to second level on a grey as well as the engine being located slightly rearward than this one is.

Been back into it the last 2 weeks. Fitted up replacement engine block with crank, pistons, cam, thrust unit, etc.
Done plumbing in the sump for drain and scavenge points for scavenge pump arrangement. Refitted standard engine driven water pump and repositioned raw water pump to allow for heat exchanger set up. So far with high point bleeds and header tank I should be able to fit everything under the original engine cover.

Engine assembly done and painted. The picture colour looks a little too red(Holden Red - 149/179 colour) but looks the goods in person. Am close to sourcing a heat exchanger which is looking like it'll be from the states if they don't slug me for postage as most do over there.
Also waiting on my oil scavenge pump which should be due very soon.

Did you try luxfords for the heat exchanger?
