Classic Australian Wooden Power Boat Association

Cruising around yesterday I spotted this cool remote controlled Wooden model Hydro.
The guy has built this from scaling down 1936 American plans. Its powered by a 4hp motor with a centrifical clutch. Its taken him a while to get the set up right and has a box full of different props and turn fins etc. He puts GPS in it and records the maximum speed, yesterday it went 73km/h.
Its transported around in the back of his 1949 Chev Ute thats pretty cool too.

Where it looks a bit rough is where he has been tweaking the hull and sponsons. He's pretty happy with the handling now and will tidy it up.

Here is the box of bits. Interesting seeing these different props which appear to have been tuned as carefully as any big boat prop.

I just barred up looking at it. Just awsome.

Adding to the model theme, here's a winged Lewis model that the guy built when he was 16, he's now retired. It has a one cylinder diesel motor.
He used to see the real thing watching racing at the Adelaide Speed Boat Club.

I've asked the question about the Lewis but he thinks he'll hand it down to his Grandson. I will ask again later.

I bet the Lewis has a tiny little bilge pump... otherwise it's not really a Lewis.
