Mersey Yacht Club Marina, Devonport, Tasmania

Postby Chivs » 09 Jun 2016, 14:15

Ahoy all!

Tassie has experienced heavy flooding statewide, if you would like an idea of the power of water/nature have a look on U Tube re the subject matter.

For those not so technically equipped, the footage is of a marina on the Mersey River at Devonport where the "Spirit of Tasmania " the ferry betwwent Tassie and Melbourne docks. The marina and various boats attached including one classic wooden Halvorsen that has been a center piece of the last two wooden boat festival could be worth 1 million plus?!!! Float off down river with the flow, it's hard to watch!

All the best, Chivs

Thanks Andy!

I've been working at Orford roughly an hours drive on the east coast of Tassie for 14 months now. Since then we have closed roads for snow, bush fires x 2 and floods x 2! Anyone would think I was trying to restore a wooden boat outside again!

Now watching out for locusts.

All the best to you, Wendy and vastly growing young man Mitch, cheers

Just caught up with this post Chivs.

Yes, the power of nature is just awesome. To reiterate Andy, watching your pride and joy and one big helluva big investment getting washed down the river and being helpless to do anything about it would be devastating.

It seems we were lucky in Victoria. This weather was all around us, hitting NSW and Tassie hard, but [gladly] didn't come here apart from eastern Gippsland copping a bit.

It seems you've been busy for the last 15 months, Chivs.
