Skid rubber

Postby Greg » 16 Oct 2013, 11:03

Does anyone know if you can still get trailer skid rubber like that pictured. It is sitting across a 2 inch bearer (probably 45 mm dressed). If you can, where?

Hi Greg
Another place that have skid rubber listed are Boating, Camping and Fishing,
CH Smith and/or Whitworths Marine.

I'm with Peter on this one Greg - I reckon that I've seen it in the Whitworth's catalogue and on-line maybe with BLA or similar. I've always used carpet on my bearers and found it to be very serviceable and gentle on the paintwork.... if you can't get the rubber stuff.

Hi Greg,
If you want to go down the carpet route I have some spare.
It is recycled stuff and if you want it you are welcome to have it.
I replaced the skids on my trailer and padded it with one of those foam interlocking play mats that I cut into strips and then covered over that with the carpet.

I can even give you a foam mat if you want.

Drop me an email if you would like the stuff
Cheers

Thanks all. The rubber stuff didn't really come up. There is some stuff out there that appears to be about two inches wide, but without the additional amount with which to attach it. You would be nailed it on the top. I bet it's out there, just gotta find it.

I will probably just go with good old reliable carpet, although Ezytow trailers will sell me some synthetic stuff that they use on their trailers. It looks good enough, but doesn't offer much padding.
