Think 1956 might not be correct, looks more modern than that.
Also wondered about being a Lewis, thought perhaps Whiteley?

Re: 1956 lewis race/ski boat
Looks like something glass with wood deck from the 1970,s as the fit out matches that period. Lewis never put engines against the transom . they did not believe in V-drives either.
A hull was built in the late 1960.s for I think Keith Burke that was rear engined with an SK style deck and fitted with a 327 Chev by Diablo Motors.
Lewis did not believe it would work but the customer got what he requested, Was painted Holden Premier Blue.

I think this boat was Bags and before that Conquista ? raced at Geelong before that an old Stinga and last a Skiff called Rampage that john Nason bought and got Lewis to put a runabout deck on it probably mid seventies I could be wrong as the memory is not as good as it was some one else may be able to shed some light on it.

Re: 1956 lewis race/ski boat
I am not that sure this is the John Nason's Stinga race boat that was converted from the skiff, the transom and boat (one extra plank) is too high for that particular boat.
I suppose there's a chance he converted a skiff on another occasion.
The Skiff conversion I believe happened in 1974ish while he was waiting for Keith Simpkin to build a replacement for the one that was virtually cut in half. The Simpkin once finished went on to become Steinway, and John Nason campaigned the converted skiff (as seen in Bob Carter's photo from later 70's at Albert Park) until he went to plastic. And also in my opinion this hull is a far later hull than 1956.

And the Deck just keeps on changing , And the converted Skiff was nowhere near 18 ft.And the rear deck around the engine was not square.
Design more of middle to late 60,s not a 50,s design.
