202 Engine

I'd like to sell the 202 engine that was in my skiff when I bought it. I haven't used the engine but did hear it run when I bought the boat. Most of what I know about it what the guy I bought the boat from told me. Thought I'd post here to see if any members are interested before I put it on Gumtree.

So, it's a VK Black motor with Starfire rods, a Wade cam (don't know the specs but it sound pretty cammy when he started it up), a much modified 9 port head, Mallory twin point dizzy, roller rockers, water cooled sump, breather tank, chain type coupling for a 1" shaft and all the other marine gear. There's also a steel cradle with thrust race to suit if it's wanted.

Have today run it on the starter, it pulls 20lb oil pressure on the starter and all cylinders have good compression. I couldn't hold the gauge tight enough to see actual compression, it blew off at about 125 on all cylinders so all 6 have over 125 lb compression.

Asking $1,000 for the engine without carbs and manifold and $1800 with carbs and manifold. Carbs are Stromberg 175 CD's on a Lynx manifold.

Located on the sunny Central Coast of NSW.

Here's some pics.

I bought the boat from Peter Alexander, who has the Antique Marine Engine Museum in Loch Sport Victoria.

A V6 Chev. Basically a 350 with two cylinders missing. Same bore and stroke as a 350, makes it 262 CI.

PS Thought you were going to ask if the 202 was one of the exhibits !!!!!!!

I've now sold the triple Strommies off this engine and got a pretty good price for them, so I've dropped the price for the rest of the motor to $790. Anyone interested?
If not, Gumtree here we come.

Sorry for late reply. Nope, sold it to a bloke that wanted to put it into his jet boat. Hamilton I think that is.
