stainless d section

Postby bootlegger » 11 Jan 2016, 12:20

Im putting an order for some stainless d section for the rub rail on my skiff.
I cant seem to find a supplier here who will stock half inch so im getting it from the US.
There are two types. Solid and one that is radiused on the back. Its already pre drilled and countersunk for six gauge screws.
The radiused on the back stuff is $80 per twelve foot length.
I have a mate who ships out of long beach so freight wont be too bad.
There is also gst and whatever charges apply.
Does anyone need any?
Search Tico Marine to view.

Just a heads up before you order from the states.....
I bought the hollow backed lengths ..not solid ..from what used to be Boronia Marine in Bayswater Victoria
Called Avante Marine...since moved elsewhere..not sure where.
Cost me about $ 100 per length....great quality, pre drilled, countersunk etc.
They import/imported from the states for Bayliner boats they stocked.
Just in the last 6 months.
Worth checking them out because exchange rate is not too kind at the moment.

A 'left field' suggestion - buy a length of 316 stainless tube like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-25-4-x-1-6 ... XFWm2skHtA
and have your local laser cutting mob cut 1/2" strips. belt sand and polish edges , drill and csk holes where you want them and your there!
Not speaking from experience but it should work and you could choose tube size / radius to suit your current application and not too expensive.( depending on the laser cutting but its very common these days with lots of competition)
