The idea of a curved transom was quite the rage for a while. Often yachts of the period had a curved raked transom which was an even bigger nightmare to build.
Id sugest that theboat was built with the transom that way as the cav plate also has the same curve in it.
Also the MGC had a 6 cylinder engine fitted to it as well
