Timber

Postby piquet95971 » 16 May 2012, 18:05

Hi guys
Currently I am in the warmer climes of the harbour city.
I have found a supplier of Queensland Silver Ash.
I am going to have a look at their stocks tomorrow morning. If its any god I am going to get enough for the gunwales, transom trim and some other trim on our boat.

I will have to get it transported to Melbourne as I am after 2.7 mtr lengths. So if you need some silver ash or anything else that can't be got in Melbourne I could payfor it get it shipped and we share the transport costs. Of course you will have to pay me for whatever timber you wanted.

So if anyone else is after some let me know by email to pksneddon@hotmail.com or message to 0428547398.

The timber yard is Anagote timber in Marrickville. They have a good range and prices seem reasonable?

Cheers

Anagote timber are at 144 Renwick St, Marrickville.

For all you timber boat owners in Sydney they may be a worthwhile addition to you timber suppliers.

I was there earlier today and purchased 2 big sticks of Queensland Silver Ash. To me they seemed to have plenty of stock but they said that it is getting hard to get.

They were extremely helpful and I was able to select the timber stick I wanted rather than what was offered.

They also have a great range of other timbers in stock.
I haven't got their web address handy but will post it later on.

Cheers
Peter

Trip went well
Left the timber place in Marrickville at 0935 and arrived at home in Nnunawading at 840 pm
Had lunch in yass, dinner at the commercial hotel in Benalla so take off 1 1/4 hour for the food stops and toilet breaks. We made good time.
Its so easy now that there are all the bypasses of the towns in place.
The only town that slows things down now is Holbrook. Give it to the end of the year and that bypass will be opened as well.
We just cranked daughters little Bee Em up and let it loose. It sits nicely at 3500 rpm, not advertising what speed that is! and it still gets 32 mpg.

I was impressed with the timber at Anagote timber. They were most helpful and have a great range in just about every size.
I picked up their price list so I might set up another topic and list the timbers that they have in stock.

Yes I was able to get the Silver Ash that I was after.

I have two pieces coming down from them on a truck. I purchased a 5.7 Mtr x 125mm x 50 mm piece and another for Ross (Invader). The shipping cost for both pieces from the yard to my home is $100, which I didnt think was too bad at all.
From that I think that I will get enough for the coamings, the cockpit trims both front and rear and the style piece accross the transom.

For what it was worth with all the running around that I had done here it would be worth the cheap airfares on Pussycat Airlines (tiger) just to go and check it all out and to shop for the hard to find items here.
cheers
Peter
