G'day all, Hey Doc when you viewed the run about was it a dry sump 272 with direct drive then?just curious because they have changed the exhaust location on the transom from higher to lower and the engine bearers seem to have more holes than needed the hull is not in to bad a nick i think the port whisky plank will need replacing and they have made a bit of a mess trying to patch up the planks around the transom(to many screws/nails )no wood left.can any one tell me why most of the runabouts have an external rudder and the one on my boat is inside the boat with a s/s cav plate it will all come clear oneday cheers

All i can remember she had a Ford Y-block , chrome rocket covers with rust. Planks ends at transom untidy, split- nailed-or screwed.

G'day Tommo and welcome. Great to see you made it on to the Board.

The info I have on this one is a 1958 Lewis, originally from Noosa, then brought to Victoria and restored/refurbished in 2000. It was sold in 2004 and went to NSW. It was up for sale in Bundeena (NSW) in 2006/7 and then later again with mention of a damaged plank and some rot in the stem/deck.

I've sent you an email with some contact details of the bloke who restored it in 2000. He might be able to offer some more info.

Thanks Greg,Ron thought it was built mid 50ts the Y block motor is carst in canada released to Australia in 1955 by the engine numbers the rot is still in the deck so it is half off and i see that there is f/glass /bog in the the top half of the stem, there are some cracks along the rove lines in port side bow and p/s stern but once the deck is off and motor out i will be able to have a good look and see what i am up for cheers.
