hi Ross

My plan for the Deck was to use 3mm ply (which I bought 2 years ago for this purpose). I was also considering putting thin strip planks of oak, or similar over the top of the ply, to get the classic planked look.
I'm just concerned about the additional weight of using both those options together.
I'll have to see how thin I can get the planks to keep the weight down. I dont want to use really thin 'veneer'.
I was thinking I might be able to get 2 or 3 mm thick planks ?

thanks
mike

Hey everyone.
So, It's been an embarrassingly long time since my last post......
I kind of got distracted on some other projects, that also still aren't finished ...hahah.
I have been keeping an eye on this forum on and off though.
I finally got my project in the water for the first time a few weekends ago.
You can see it using this link below, if you want.

or, if you dont like clicking links, search ýoutube for "vintage wooden boat project with Hamilton jet

After about a 30 minute joy ride, I've now got a list of improvements and finish off jobs to do on it..
I didn't get to really open up the throttle as much as I wanted, because the water was a bit lumpy, and because the sleeve joining the exhaust to the exhaust manifold overheated/burst and so I had to limp back to the trailer with the bilge working overtime, before it filled with water from the engine.
it did get up on the plane quite quickly and nicely, though i didn't get much video of that.
fun times !
