Skiff Cockpit Layout Pics

Postby Thommo » 19 Jan 2011, 11:48

Gday all

Im looking for some referance pics to help with the resto of my little skiff.
I need to reconstruct the cockpit, and I would like to see how your original skiffs are layed out.
Looking to find, seating positon, pedal position, steering column position/angles, types of dash styles etc.

I would be really helpful if you could take some good pics of yours, and post them here, or
e-mail them to me if you have trouble posting pics.

Thanking you in advance.

Cheers
Jeff

Thanks for the offer Dave, much appreciated ;)
Dave D took me out to Paul Siddell's place to get some good pics of Screamin Eagle's layout, thanks Dave & Paul for that,
and I have searched the net to find all the pics I could.
The 'Linda-K' fibreglass hulled skiff is also being displayed for sale just near my place at the moment, so
I was able to get some good pics of the deck, engine bay & cockpit woodwork.
From all this, I have a good idea of how I want mine to look.
I just need to get hold of some period parts (some of which are coming from the very helpful Dave D)
Clear a spot in the shed, and get stuck into it.

The little frowny face above was just a display of frustration.
I am too used to the FB-EK forum where people fall over each other to help.

Its all good though :)

Cheers
Jeff

I feel the answer to this can never be fully satisfied as buyers of the hulls in those days usually bought the basic craft and fitted their own motor and guages etc. Even when I was fitting out hulls for customers each dash was different to suit both the engine and client requirements and the variations with race boats was enormous. For example with my own race boat which was a very fast 5 litre I had an oil guage. tacho and used the cut off swith as an ignition - just the basics.

I appreciate that there were not all the same, I was just looking for examples/styles of how it was done.
I want mine to look period correct, I just needed to know what that was.
