Bilge paint suggestions

Postby gwhastie » 23 Mar 2024, 15:12

The inside of my new wooden hull is finished with several coats of clear epoxy (Bote Cote)...and the joinery itself looks quite neat. I've noticed that some of the US builders put a coat of grey bilge paint over that. Is it worth doing the entire hull or just under the engine...or not at all? I'd welcome any feedback please.

I think the best thing about a timber boat is the timber, I'm not a fan of painting unless there is a good reason, and if it is protected by boat coat then there is no reason.

I think that showing your excellent timber and wood work is the way to go. What will the bilge paint achieve that the epoxy doesn't already do?

Thank you Alan and Bob for your feedback
I'll stick with the Bote Cote.
