Everingham project

Hi, I'm new to the group and to wooden boats. I picked up a Everingham. It's been played with and the hull has been glassed. Just wondering if anyone knows the boat and the history. Any info would be appreciated and pointers. I want to fully strip and restore closest to original as possible.

Ahoy Daniel!

Good luck with the project! On the humour side of things and having restored two and a half boats it will be interesting to see a photo of the "lad" when she hits the water after being restored, if you know what I mean!?

Cheers

Yeah I think he will be a little more grown up when she hits the water. Haha. Will keep the pics up as I continue to strip it down.

Ok, as I've started stripping this damn fibreglass back I'm starting to notice the wood looking a tad poo on the hull. The keel has some cracks, nothing I see being to major, but I'm new to this. I know off the bat that I will be replacing planks. Is there any wood anyone recommends? I know the hull is meranti. Top plank rotted where it meets the keel, two-three planks have weathering and cracks forming, as I work my way down the planks look good. Any info would be great. Thanks.

This damage is usually caused from the deck not being sealed for a long time , the original deck was probably opened up and weather has got in and it common as far as I have seen with a few restos on here .
you may only have to replace a small section of the plank , it will depend on the condition as you go back along the hull .
