The pic of Pagan is just about my favourite as well, i'm toying around with fitting a TR 2 cam (or getting mine ground) maybe get a bit more power. Anyway my reason for the post, what type of paint should I use on the hull of the Hartley? I'm not taking it back to bare timber and i'm not sure what paint has been used. What I do know is that what paint is there is in great nic and will take forever to get rid of so I will use it as an undercoat. Looking for something that can be high build and high gloss. Any info greatly appreciated.

Ray the norglass paints pretty good,don't know if it comes in yellow.

Just a quick update, still filling and sanding around the cabin. It has got to be the most tedious and time consuming thing you can do but if it's not done right everything else is a waste of time. Will be a white hull and cabin with a stained deck with timber finish grab rails and windscreen posts. Inside will be stained timber......well that's what I want anyway.

Another update on the Hartley, endless sanding and filling is finished, deck stained and first coat of clear done. Looks ok but probably should have replaced the ply deck forward of the cabin, still it's a fishing boat first and foremost !

Another quick update on the Hartley,I have now finished putting the clear on the deck...something like 10 coats I think,the cabin is painted high gloss white (4 coats plus 2 undercoat) , hull internals painted with Jotun Jotamastic, (2 coats), 2 new floor panels made as the old ones were a bit ratty, all the seat and minor floor panels done with 5 coats of gloss white, we machined a plate out of 6 mm aluminium to hold the morse steering box which will bolt to the cabin bulkhead using 6 mm stainless socket head nuts and bolts, the steering wheel is a timber sports model. I have 2 beautiful teak grab rails for the cabin which really sets it off! Last but not least all the chrome work is away being redone. I will update the photo's when I get a chance. I'm really happy with the way it's coming along, we're not talking show quality but for what will be a fishing boat first and foremost I couldn't hope for better. Seeing as the board has been a bit quiet of late I have a quick update on where my Hartley is at. It is now I the process of being fitted out and after one small woops, is coming along ok. I finished the transom and fitted the outboard making sure I used plenty of silicone to seal up any leak points, it was then I found that the steering cable couldn't be installed without angling the motor slightly and in doing so managed to rip a fair chunck of ply off........BUGGER!! After some lengthy repairs i now have the outboard AND steering fitted. I've made a set of windscreen frames from some silver ash and am in the process of making windscreens to fit. Will do another update soon
