Help needed

Postby Greg » 02 Oct 2015, 07:59

The circa 1970 Simpkin runabout Half a Chance is currently undergoing restoration in SA with owner Robert Young.

Rob is researching the history of the boat and was wondering if anybody can identify any of the chaps or possibly even themselves in the pictures below.

Ron can be contacted by email at: robmarg67@bigpond.com

Yeah good call Chivs.....Nool for sure.
Also Hooks it must be you. You are wearing the Unicorn's pj bottoms!
I do remember a story about Half a Chance many years ago and I think it was on a personal website in the early 2000's. It had a Larry Perkins racing engine in it and was supposedly hitting almost 70 mph. If my memory serves me right it ripped the rear end out in Port Phillip Bay.

Like you Darren, I remember the Perkins engine story - a 327 Chev putting out around 400 HP.

I got all the gauges out of that boat after he sank it. Greg the first 2 pics were on the fist web site so some where you must have the info or contact numbers.

Paul

Yes I did, but as I said to Robert, sadly, I lost that info (and heaps else) in the course of a couple of computer crashes over the years.
