Hey Guys, thanks for the interest in the old Hydro, I agree that she will look amazing when completed back to her original guise.

I have attached another photo of the dash as I have come across two curved quarter round pieces of timber with each of them having two leather straps attached. straps are 15mm wide by approx 500mm long. These probably held down the engine cowling of which im guessing was the same profile of the dash.

Hey Guys, I am slowly starting to gather a timeline and history behind this old three pointer.

Here's a pic of it in Bunbury approx 1955.

Hey Fella’s, My Son and I were having a close look at the photo last night and discovered that there is indeed a cover over the engine!!!!
It looks to be some sort of clear Perspex aircraft canopy complete with air scoop in the top for air flow. It also looks to have a lifejacket lying atop of the dash / windscreen.
Gents, Your thoughts or am I seeing things????

Certainly looks like it Damo.

I noticed what looks like a jacket laying on the top and also wondered about the three pipes sticking through the deck, although the centre one looks like it might be a double, or just a bigger diameter. It's a great pic.

looks a lot like a mustang canopy to me, might have been owned by an air force bloke in 1955 or someone who had a mate in the airforce.
