Hi All, To answer the question as to why the ply is on the outside on the top plank is to stop the plank from splitting. Because of the weight of the deck with boat movement in rough water. It was done on all boats built at Taren Pt from 1961c to 1970c Ron.

Thankyou to all who replied to my question, I can see how this works to keep the plank from splitting.
I would be interested to know what other members have used to glue the plywood backing on their planks.
Also wether anyone has any dimensions or detailed pictures of skiff deck structure and finishing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Nathan.
