Hi all
Have been experimenting with scarfing some ply, in preparation of replacing some planks. I
Practised on some structural ply first and the finish especially on the feather edge was not that good, a practice on some marine ply yielded a better result, with a 2mm jagged edge, see phot attached. (The photo is a close up) My question is " Is this finish good enough to give a good surface on the finished, sanded joint, ? Or should I expect to get a knife edge finish? I can see that I will have some small cavities , unless I overlap the boards a bit more then sand thru the top layer down a little. I used a brand new 20mm dia router bit, and tried both directions of cutting.Also the first experiment is using a polyurethane glue ( what I had in the shed) is there anything better?

Lindsay, I have used a belt sander and have placed the ply between two pre shaped hardwood boards and run the sander over the end of the ply until level with the hardwood

Hi Lindsay,
Used a small jack plane to do Scrubcats.
Peter Adcock demonstrated his amazing skills
with the plane, taught me how to use the ply layers
to ensure consistent angle of bevel, the layers must be
Parallel. The mating surface is as long as posible-very shallow angle.
We then used a wide press to pressure the join
