putty / gap filler

Postby screwit » 16 Dec 2013, 22:07

What sort of wood putty do you use on boats / decks. What did they use when they built them 40 - 50 years ago ?
As I can not find any thing suitable at the hardware, most are water based and for internal use or linseed based window putty.
Water based ones tend to swell with the moisture
Is there an epoxy base one that can be coloured to suit the job

Ross I mixed mortar pigment with the epoxy and used as a filler. It worked fine.
Traditionally they used the linseed oil based stuff but it can work its way out.
