Ray,
next trick is a pair of Morris lever action shocks with the valves removed to give push & pull, just a bit bulky for a mini hydro.

Hi Guys, just back from getting my outboard tuned, A guy in Redesdale did his thing and it's purring like a kitten. If anyone is chasing an old outboard for a project this chap has some pearls, like an old 80hp Westbend and a vintage 40hp lightburn. Anyway will post some crappy pics of the throttle setup. cheers Ray

Well, BIG day tomorrow, time to see if all the work was worthwhile. Will try to post some video of the event (if it's a success).

Well trial no.1 was not what you would call a success. Had trouble keeping the motor running sweetly enough that i could trust it to go for a run, evey time I would get brave the thing would start to run rough. Eventually I gave up and put it back on the ute. On pulling the motor down (again) i found the keyway locating the flywheel had sheered throwing the timing out. Once this had been fixed I fired it up again only to find one of the plug leads shorting out. I have replaced both leads and one coil and NOW it sounds crisp.........BLOODY OUTBOARDS !!!!!!! Shoulda gone with a motor bike engine and made it an inboard.
