Progress- very slow progress is being made on my Harris Clinker Grumpy.Thanks to Peter I have been able to steam the gunwalls and am now ready to attache them to the top planks. Looking for suggestions about what glue to use when fitting them and where to get said glue. Any advice gratefully received.

Hi Nick, some of the others are using "Epi-glue". No doubt they will post where you can get it from.

Nick we have been using Bote-Cote epoxy glue and resins when we tested it the timber broke but the join never moved I would use it every time regards Phil.

Yes, thats the good stuff Hookster, its a product made by International, its a 2 pac epoxy and bloody expensive I scored a small tin off my local Marine shop partA and B come to 385 gM mixed And $50.00 for the pleasure

I'm using the Bote cote epoxy for the strips on the deck

The Epi stuff is good but as has been said it is expensive
Norglass also make an epoxy adhesive which is also good
Check out the Nnorglass web site and they have a list of stockists.
I think its available from Miter 10 stores

Just remember the boat you are restoring has been glued and screwed some 60yrs ago . Timber parts have broken away from the glue joins and has left in most cases the timber whole. Using epoxy glues if you ever have to replace a piece of timber ,the timber will brake around the glue join not join itself.
