Damo you have done a great job of that stainless skeg but now take it and throw it straight in the bin. If you must make one do it in mild steel. When I get back to my workshop I'll show you how a stainless one work hardened and snapped in two on me at a hundred miles an hour. The propeller chewed through the whole back of the boat and it sank. Another time I escaped death.

Thanks Chris, I think that's the way to go also, I will try and track down some Oregan runners as per the originals failing that I will probably use Jarrah.

Bit unsure of my bloody skeg now!!! although I wont be doing 100mph in it thats for sure, 80 will be just fine

Guys as I will be decking the boat shortly I need a a bit of help on plank thickness. The plan is to deck the entire boat in 3mm marine ply and plank over the top of that which i assume is pretty standard stuff. My question is what thickness should the planks be as the Sheoak I am going to use is 12mm thick and too thick I gather??????? Any recomendations will be greatly appreciated, Cheers

It's all to do with Power to Weight ratio, [ cars or boats ] . The deck covering is to keep the water out. The deck frame is to take any weight. Plus the ply should bend without stress. The planks should be ply thickness or veneer.

12mm is way too thick. 6mm will be plenty.

Spent some more tome on the trailer on the weekend, picked up some 8 x 2's in Jarrah from a mate of mine for $50. They were bowed but i managed to get a straight length at 165mm wide out of them after trimming them down with the circular saw and then dressed them up and gave them some coats of varnish. Cut drilled and welded on all the supports out of some old angle iron and then painted the trailer. As it was drying I cleaned up a set of 1965/66 Oldsmobile rally rims and gave them a lick of paint and fitted a set of low profile 14" tyres to them. (Popping the beads were a bloody nightmare ) Once the trailer had dried I fitted everything up. The next step is to place the boat on the trailer and fine tune its fitment and also weld on a rudder guard once i get an idea where its got to go ,

I notice the cross bars on the trailer are straight and not "V'ed". Will the fin and prop shaft clear those cross bars?

Hey Fellas!! The fin will fit with about 20mm clearance , this trailer is a direct copy of the original with the exception of more strengthening tubes so there shouldn't be any issues of it fitting , fingers crossed

Friday was to be my "No Boat" day as my lovely wife had been so grateful as to write me up a job list for the day ( F*#K) . So once I had dropped the kids off at school and the wife went to work I started my first job fixing the dishwasher , ( But Didn't She Go To Work ) . Upon needing another tool I trotted off to the shed, while in there it started to spit a bit of rain so I took 5 minutes out and put a sheet of ply on the boat just to see how it looked!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well poo , I swear It was only half an hour later and the wife walked in from work , Must have been a shift in the time continuum !!!! Got some deck on though guys and now its starting to look like the boat it should be My excuse was (The Weather Had Turned to poo Apparently) , well it didn't fly boys!!!!!
