Re: 16ft Boesch Design Restoration
Spent some time on the boat this weekend, cut out and welded up the fuel tank and fitted it. Just have to weld the lid on now and another job done!!!! Also painted out the internals today and am pretty happy with the result. Need to chase up some gauges next , anyone got any suggestions???????

Re: 16ft Boesch Design Restoration
Hey Guys , Managed a bit of shed time over the weekend and repaired the steering column. When I got the boat the steering wheel was flopping around on the shaft like a fish out of water only held on by one bolt . I just happened to have a car on the property of non descript brand and model ( Nick Likes Em ) of which was the perfect size. Welded them together and got the steering sorted . Also made a S/Steel plate that I will tack the cav bolts to as the fuel tank will be mounted in the way if they ever need to be tensioned or undone. Starting to take shape now!!

Re: 16ft Boesch Design Restoration
Got around to the rudder finally, got a price to turn down my original bushes to fit my S/Steel sleeve of $80 so in an continuing effort to save money I used one of my Dads old tricks . Put my drill in a vice and put some threaded bar in the chuck. Put on the bush along with a washer and nut. As the chuck has a conical end it centres the bush naturally with a little bit of fine tuning. Turned it on and started filing away until had it the perfect size I needed. Once fitted into the S/S sleeves I welded these to the cav plate and fitted to the boat. Works great and looks cool . Once fitted I did notice that the steering quadrant was cracked and looks to have been welded ( Butched ) up several times in the past so I will either chase up or make up a S/Steel one I think .
