Ken, don't forget there is always the 6cyl option although the Irving head may be tricky, might have to do what most of us do to post pics, ask the kids.

This is a classic example of an ex race boat we'd like to attract to our Goolwa events.
I'd love to see Rascala restored to its former racing days glory.

Its your boat to do as you wish with though Ken, Im just saying ;)

Cheers

Was more than likely to come through the same hole you have as the low angle shaft would be about 300mm - 400mm up the hull unless the keel has been changed over the years from damage or rott, but the pics dont look like a low angle to me.

Got to agree with you on this one Ross - the pics show a relatively steep shaft angle. Rascala was definitely vee driven so have to assume that the gearbox was at the back of the driver's seat/close to the engine. Hope that this one goes back as original, but of course that's up to Ken.

I have got the general idea ,it will be rear mount not sure if it will be 202 or 253 yet.Does anyone know if it had a bench or bucket seats with the bridge across it could be either.
I had Barry my old neighbour on the hill ring me the oather morning .He said i do not want to be a stickey nose but is everything allright over there, i have not seen you about for a while and your misses has been walking the dog by herself.Perhaps i have been hitting the new project a bit hard.
Jim rang yesterday chasing a supplier for mono nails and glue is there a supplier close to
Bacchus Marsh.

Bucket seats Ken.

Dog vs boat resto? Why are we even discussing it?

I am thinking of moving the shaft skeg forward possibly using the current front bolt holes as the rear this will move the skeg about 6" .When i removed the skeg it had a ply wedge under the back which increased the angle. There is a section on the keel without the stringers crossing over it and i would like to fit the shaft log in this area.It looks like it was designed to fit there ,will moving it forward have any ill effects on the boat.I have now got a Haynes&Hellyer box and a jackshaft .
