prop set up

Postby Greg » 08 Jun 2012, 20:57

I'm sure we've had this discussion before, but how far away should the prop be from the rudder. I am talking specifically about a 6 cylinder skiff, but doubt if it would be that much different for any boat.

Greg, my skiff is 3" from tip of blade to rudder shaft and about 4" from hub to rudder

A closed fist between prop and rudder, don't forget 3/4" no more! between skeg and back of prop. To fit a prop puller. Prop nut should have a safety split pin or prop nut with additional lock nut. This is a requirement in boat racing today and could be a requirement for on water events later on.
