Sounds like you are making great progress. Would still love to see some pictures. You can text me on 0418550720 if you have any. I could also post them on this forum if you wish.

Hookster...I am planning on a road trip to the big island in the next 3-4 weeks.

Yes it did, I have not had the engine running as yet and I do have a spare.
The placement of the engine and z drive is going to be tight. the skeg has been only pilot holed with 6 holes and the shaft hole has been chiesled out. It may have to come back one set of holes to give me room in the engine bay and keep the weight back. The rudder has not been drilled through the cavplate so no problems there.
Yesterday I fitted the new bearers and gave them 1 coat of clear, today I will give them 1 more, but time has to be made to get ready for the swap meet tomorrow first.
Ill try and install them next week some time.

Today I pulled the cross bearers out , the rear one, was rusted solid as the steel bolt though the keel had swollen so I had to drill down both sides of the timber and break it in two.
Unbolted the steel skeg and transom brace to reshape it to the hull better.
And fitted some deck suports on both sides of the cockpit to brace the hull better.
Then I started to make the water cooled box and mount for the z-drive out of 10mm alloy plate as I dont have the corect mounts .
A little bit at a time will get it done this year I hope.

Have fitted the deck frame now and rolled the boat over and have now repaired the split in the plank {5 off them}, it must of been a bad board with stressed grain in it, Next will be the skeg and shaft hole.

Skeg and shaft hole has now been sorted out, the skeg has been moved back 3" towards the transom and the hole made longer.
This will move the engine weight back and help with the added length of the engine & z drive. It is set up with a 12* skeg witch is aprox. 12mm shorter and will prob only run a max 11" prop.
I have started on the bow stem - keel cover so when this is completed I will coat the hull before turning over again.
