Have had a run in it and still bouncing will add some more spaces under the c/plate.
Still sucking sump dry on extended fast runs so a larger 16mm oil return pipe to the sump entering under the oil level has been fitted. Hope that works.

Have added 1\2 ltr of oil and gave it a run on lake wellington as the boat ramps are all out of the water at Glenmaggie.
Didn't suffer the oil problem but top revs were down as I tried a different prop and I lost 1200 revs down from 5200 to 4000 and speed was down too.
It still porposed and the prop was 43mm forward close to skeg . Prop seems to be a 11x14 3 blade.
The prop I was running looks to be a 10.75 x 15 2 blade .
I checked all the known props I have on a plumb spigot and measured the angle of the blades to come up with my sizes.
Next test will be with screwit's prop witch is 11.75 x 12 - 3 blade

Have given the boat a blast today and the prop off SCREWIT made no difference in handling , engine did rev to 5500 this is 1100 more than screwit can turn it.
Next thing will be to cut 1/4" off the blades of the 2 blade prop and try and make the cav plate wider some how and give it another try.

Back in the shed with Invader now running, I have now braved the cold and picked up the tools again . My aim is to get the little skiff to ride a bit smoother .
Have started to make the cavplate wider , I have laminated some ply strips together to form planks like the hull has and have incorporated it with the existing solid fixed cavplate it has, this is made with the centre planks and keel running through to the end of the cav. I have overlapped the 3 planks 35mm and glued them together to form each side, retaining the shape of the hull with the reverse plank. these are tied together with some 42 x 10 vic ash hardwood cut the same and finished as the ribs, theses and the ply planks that I glued will be roved together as is the hull. The cavplate is made of three layers of board and the new sections will be clamped and bolted between the two top layers with the tee tree knees braces that the boat had .
In affect it will be like an extension of the hull. It will be supported on the out side planks buy some adjustable brackets that will be able to adjust the out sides of the plate. I have to get some thick 75mm x 75mm aluminium angle to bolt through the transom and the outside plank to hold and support it on each side .
these will have to be strong to take a pounding and the transom will get additional support on the inside with bearer brackets.
So far all parts have been varnished and pre fitted .
The finished size of the plate will be 850mm w and 350mm long.

Cav plate is now completed , looks good , hope it works !
Next is some fuel tank cradle's to keep them off the hull. they are made of laminated ply and with ally angel brackets to the bearers shaped to the round tanks to sit in . the roves were making dints in the tanks , these will be fitted tomorrow and will clean the hull out with soapy water ready for a test day to come.

There's some decent engineering in that Ross.

Rosco, love the clinker cav plate, nice
