Good to hear things are finally happening

My engine is now ready for assembly except for the deck height of the pistons, they need 20 though of the top.
The knife edge crank is all machined and balanced engine block cleaned and cam bearings go in tomorrow. the oil gallery's have been opened up and the oil pump modified for an external pick up in the sump. head has to have some work on it for the roller rockers to fit and a cc check for comp. but other than that the head is finished .
Next thing will be to remove the engine that is in the skiff and pull the sump to alter the pick up for the modified oil pump.
My son skiff engine is now completed after I made a new sump and pick up for that and that is to be fitted in the boat this week so that will be going this weekend I hope . We have all so had a new grand son last week [ no 12 ] so any chance of getting to Yarrawonga is gone I think.

Remembering all the names is now that much harder !
I still mix up my sons names so how am I going to cope at a family function ?
If only the shed had a boat or car or bike for each of them that would be fair I think !- My place would look like Dave's place then .

since the boat has not been in the wather waiting for the new engine and have had some very hot days. Have had a look under the boat only to find a large split plank.
So some repairs will be needed before it gets wet again.
Should have been weting it out every few weeks

Plank is almost repaired, have had to insert two strips 12mm wide, one 400mm and the other 500mm in to the plank to cover the split as they were not in a strait line. 3 other splits have had a 4mm strip inserted but they range from 200mm to 100mm long and parallel to the big splits.
The big splits had opened up about 3mm and could see strait through.
This plank has a swirly grain in it at one end and had to be repaired when I got the hull and was repaired this way and these repairs have held nicely but they were only 3mm wide.
this is the only bad grain in the plank and the hull and is from the transom forward about 1200mm the rest of the plank is good.
Have one more to do but have to wait for one of the wide inserts to dry as it runs next to it and overlap it by 50mm .
Cuts were made by fitting two blades on the power saw side by side to get a wide cut and setting the height to 1mm less than the thickness of the plank but using a spacer strip under the saw to clear the revers plank and keel strap.
All strips fitted to be a tap in fit and radius the ends to suit the saw cut.

under side of the repair is now completed , tomorrow l will roll the hull over and finish of the inside.
I need to disassemble the engine next as the new engine is built as a short now and we need the sump to modify and the dog clutch to bolt on for fitting of the sump. Comp check is next and should be around 10 to 1.
