Working on the yellow terra head for the good motor today , recut the seats and almost finish lapping in the valves . guides are really good in the head.
Will need to tap the water out let in the end of the head next and check the springs before assembly .

Got to keep things moving , triumph herald might be next thing to get going , tyres will be getting flat spots !!
Re: Little skiff
Today I have replaced the tachco as the Smiths one was reading as a 4 cyl and is not adjustable. Even though the case have 6cyl stamped in ink on it. Swap meet special !!!!
A VDO tachco has been fitted that is adjustable so I will now know what it is revving to and will be able to access the prop as to what to do with it.

Re: Little skiff
Today, I dropped "Ratbag" in the water for a 15 min test run to see what was the peak RPM with the current prop witch is 11.5" x approx. 16" pitch two blade. This is a little bit big as to what was used in racing I'm told.
Water was like a mirror and not cold.
As I thought, the top RPM was 4500. this is with the very tired 202 .
I will cut the prop down to 11" tomorrow if I get a chance and test it out on Sunday and hope I gain 300 revs.
We will see what happens

I thinks your prop is way too big .... Try 9 1/2 x 13 ish or even 9 x 13

Re: Little skiff
Thanks Stu , I will take that on board and let you know.
Nankervis has some props to try that are smaller as you say, I hope it will stop it getting so much air other wise I might be asked to get a pilot licence !!!

Re: Little skiff
Hey Ross, I thought that's what skiffs were all about...air time! Had a play with Pagan's timing tonight and I think I have it a bit better, wont know now until I finish cleaning up the hull and putting a couple of coats of clear over it. Enjoyed the run at Eppalock, was good fun!
Re: Little skiff
Ray, does the mag have a mechanical advance or is it static , Being a tractor mag it would not have only run at slower constant engine speed unlike a car up and down with gears and hills.
