Melbourne cup day and I picked the winner but I wish that the second placed horse had won. I get it every year as I cheat and put $1 on the field , always seem to get close to my money back but if the second place getter had won I would have made a good profit.

sorry for the side track,
Inside of the boat all stripped of paint now and I am happy with the results. Decision as to what to do next, see my other topic. Cost was less than I thought and cosiderably less messy than getting it soda blasted!! A bit smellier though !!

Also have been to the Wooden Boat Shop and purchased more copper boat nails and roves so I can now put the Bow ribs that were removed back in permanantly.
They seem to be about the best priced around but still expensive though. Do we have any contacts that may be a bit less expensive.

Next update will be next week, as am at Sandown for the Historic Car Races this Friday Sat and Sunday.

Project seems to have slowed a bit again. Have replaced 8 ribs in the bow of the boat.

The new roves that were purchased recently are a different profile and my rove punch does not suit them . They now sit too high and don't seem to spread the load as much. Have to make a new punch.

This Arvo I will get the boat out of the carport and hit it with some timber cleaner and then the Karcher and blast the dirt and grunge out from behind the ribs. Then to let it dry before sealing the bow section.

Have spoken to the guys from Intenational paints. He is suggesting to use 2 pack Everdure as the sealer primer says that single pack paints can be used over it later. Anyone got experience with this product, that can recommend it or otherwise?

So dirty clothes on and dirty work here I come.

.Everdure is a 2 pak epoxy applied in 3 coats 1st coat 50% thinners 2nd coat 20%thinners 3rd coat 10% the idea is that it soaks in and fills the air holes in the timber and plasticfys the timber so it wont carry water it is similer to the west system we used it on the whale boat and has been succesful so far the whale boat lives in the water(moored) for a year know and shows no sign of breaking down. As well as sealing the timber it also controls wood rot and denserfys the wood hope this helps :)

Helps a great deal. Got to get it all cleaned before we do that sort of finishing.

Didn't get what I wanted done. Went tile shopping with SWMBO for the upcoming bathroom Reno. I didn't know that there were so many shades of black!!! Still we saved heaps on the tiles which means the difference can be dedicated to the project!!!

Just to add to thommos post. Only use the penetrating epoxy on areas that won't be varnished over. Don't do anything that is going to be bright like the deck. I have had nothing but trouble with blooming. Its a great product just don't believe them when they say it can be varnished over. Every job I have done it with has happened.
