Looking so good Damo. Very nice indeed. You must be happy.
What is the ply? Looks a bit like Fijian cedar on the transom.

Re: 16ft Boesch Design Restoration
Hey Greg , to be honest I have no idea , I went through a mate who hooked me up!!! It turned out to be the worst marine ply I've ever worked with , I only used the one sheet on the transom and are using the rest for templates and the because there dry and full off voids

Re: 16ft Boesch Design Restoration
Damo , you are not alone , Some of the ply out there is so bad you can not even use a hand plane on it as the veneer just pulls back and lifts.
It is all so very open and hard to fill with paint to get a good finish , The stuff I got came from "AMERID" in Dandenong and I would call it rubbish.

Flash as a Rat with a Gold Tooth Damo well done,
Re: 16ft Boesch Design Restoration
When pulling the remainder of the deck of Invader, I found the ply makers stamp and it came from Holland- this was 1966.

Re: 16ft Boesch Design Restoration
Ross did it have the name "Brunzeel" or the like spelling.
Have seen this on both Keith Simpkins and Peter Adcocks boats.
And wish we could still get it...... The top veneer was a couple of
mm thick, and great old grain

Denman Marine in tazzie has the good stuff. I looked at transport etc a couple of years ago and it wasn't too bad.

Shheeeit that looks nice Damo.
Re: 16ft Boesch Design Restoration
Well the boats back over on her bum and have started fitting it out. First cab off the rank was the cav plate, spent the good part of a day piecing it together and welding it out it just needs a final fine sand and polish. Next will be the steering but have found out that the boss and shaft is very flogged out so I am weighing up my options , I might cut off the end and weld on another off another steering column
