Australia day 2011

Postby bootlegger » 08 Sep 2010, 17:15

The organisers contacted me today about us returning to the regatta centre. Looks like someone new is running it and they want us back. I made it clear that we would only be interested if we can display our boats in the water.
They were pretty keen to make us a feature this time so this one might be worth making an effort for. Ill be attending a meeting with them on the 21st of this month. If anyone else wants to attend let me know. Dave

aust day

Frank and I met with the organisers. It seemed we are taking a greater role at this event. The event starts at 2pm with our boats doing a parade at 8pm. They are pretty keen to see a couple of hydros/raceboats go out first and do a couple of laps then the runabouts do a couple. I am trying to negotiate where we can run or boats on the practise lake during the day before the parade so at last we get some value out it all. They seemed keen so it should be. I would really love to seethe day where we could have a stand alone vintage boat event.

I just got back from the meeting. Its going to be a pretty big deal.
We also have permission to use the practise lake to take people for rides etc.
The raceboats will only be able to run during the display.
Im planning on getting there around 11am. The run sheet says 2.30 but they were OK with it all.
The official on water demo runs start at around 8.30 pm.
lasting around 5 minutes.
Hydros go out first and do a couple of laps, then skiffs or fast runabouts, after that slower runabouts.
we have our own dock its 21 metres by 5 metres therefore we have around 47 metres of dock plus there is some room to pull the boats onto the shore.
Im really hoping this is well supported by our boats. There is around 40000 people expected and I doubt whether any of them have seen a vintage boat in their life.
Im also going to try and get a couple of steam launches and putt putts and a couple of Sanger styled flat bottom race boats.

If you are keen let me know ASAP for all the details. Dave 0413766501
