Hi Dave, sounds like a great event you have organised at the Regatta centre. Would definitely be there, but I am stuck in Singapore till about May with my job in the Navy. I will have to just keep saving to have plenty to spend on Wildfire when I return! You probably already know that the R/C model boats run on the retension lake ? (up near the roundabout and out of sight). Enjoy.

Cheers Chris.

There are worse places to be marooned. I was on Stuart (DE48) when we were up top in 77. We had the main feed pump crapped itself ( the Condensate Drain was left open and drained out all the condensate and the oil out as well) so we were marooned in Hong Kong. I say marooned as the Feed Pump broke down just as were supposed to leave. So for a week we were stuck as the pump was removed from the ship taken over to Kowloon, rebuilt brought back and then reinstalled in the bottom plates of the Engine Room.

cheers

Hi Peter, pleased to meet you. I decommissioned Vampire so know about feed pump problems etc! We had the economiser on A boiler give in during a full power trial, just before paying off! And also the boiler brickwork caving in, which I had the wonderful job (as SMN get) of cleaning up. I think 87 was the last time I was Hong Kong, it has probably changed a little bit now that the British have left. I am a POMT and this is my 3rd time in since 85. It is my fifth time on Success. Guess I just like being punished!

Looking forward to better things like getting another Syndicate hull and fixing up Wildfire.

Cheers Chris.

Cool Neil. If the weather is good its going to be a great day. Ive got a few putt Putts coming and maybe some steam launches. Even a little dinghy with a seagull outboard so there will be broad cross section of vintage boats.
